A thread to discuss and show off Smash Ultimate mods! These can be mods you've made yourself, or just mods you think are cool.

Here's the mods I've made so far, I'm still a noob, so for now it's just simple recolours. I'm hoping to gradually branch out into more advanced stuff over time.

Spoiler

I remember we had a few modders back in the Brawl days, anyone else out there making stuff for Ult?

Shadow mewtwo is a canon thing actually, he appeared in Pokken and his ultimate was to basically blow up the planet, lol.

How do you mod ultimate, anyways?

Thanks Smile

They're my favourites too. Both are mods I'd wanted for a while, but nobody had made. So I did it myself

I'm aware of Pokken's "Shadow Mewtwo", but it's completely unrelated to the Cipher Shadow Pokémon and has an entirely different aesthetic from Shadow Lugia. So it doesn't scratch the same itch for me. Others have already made mods for him anyway.

Modding the Switch is more complicated than the Wii, and not all Switches can be modded. You need an early model switch and to buy something called an "RCM Jig" to trigger recovery mode

This is the tutorial I followed
https://gamebanana.com/tuts/12827

Note that it links to a seperate switch hacking tutorial and the two tutorials directly contradict eachother in places. Trust the smash tutorial over the switch one.

Once you get over all the initial setting up, it's pretty similar to brawl. Just drag and drop the mod folders into the appropriate location on your SD card
