Well I guess by calling yesterday's question a QOTD in the thread title I guess I locked myself into this. Oh well, let's see how long this ride goes.

For today's question of the day I realize that Smash Ultimate's reveal + early life-span was during a timeframe when the site was down. With this in mind how have you changed from Sm4sh to Smash Ultimate regarding your mains/characters played? Do you play the same characters? Did you switch up your characters? Did you not even get Smash Ultimate or give up on the game?

For me I have been a ROB main since Brawl and have remained loyal to ROB in Smash Ultimate which I could say I have been rewarded for as he's gone from a humble mid tier to a top tier. I also have mixed up my secondaries going from Duck Hunt + Kirby to Dark Samus + Sora. I was giving Banjo a try in Ultimate, but I just couldn't make him work.

In all seriousness, Yoshi is pretty much my brand. Gotta stick with it.

I did dabble in other characters, of course. The main one that has stuck around is Chrom. He’s really fun to zoom around the stage with even though he is doodoo. I also picked playing Plant and Banjo-Kazooie when they came out because how could I not? Banjo-Kazooie was a dream come true.

Well I didn't really play too much of Sm4sh, but the one character I latched on to was Robin, so yeah I kind of stuck him/her it in Ultimate. I'd love to play more Diddy, but the skill set is much different than brawl lol. Nothing a little effort can't fix, of course. Otherwise it's just playing some old brawl mains/pocket picks like Lucario, Dk or Peach.

In 4 I played Greninja with a pocket pac man that everyone told me to drop constantly.

I always wanted to play Peach but sucked so badly at her, what with her being hard and all but in ultimate I just went through the grind and learned her. Picked up Min Min for bad matchups who I eventually swapped for Belmonts who fit my style more, and since I enjoyed learning them so much I just mained them, Peach covers their worst matchups.

That checks out lol. Yeah I was super hyped for Banjo, I popped off for him at work. Sadly his playstyle didn't vibe with me, but still what a nice addition to see.

Ah that's fair. Yeah I don't see too much of Robin in Ultimate, but there are some solid Robin players out ther for sure.

Peach/Belmont does sound like pretty good coverage. Kudos to learning Peach, her DNA string like combos always felt quite intimidating.

Yeah, some top Belmonts have told me I have a unique edge because of how good a secondary she is, she's a huge commitment but I put that commitment in prior to picking up Belmont so I was fine.

As for myself, I've never had a true main. I did main every character for a few months but I have always played Random. I would say that's my true main if I ever had one. I noticed that here in the icons where you update your profile they don't have it, unfortunately. Not many people take Randoms seriously. I hope DDM can add it.

Yoshi is one of those character that you don't see much so it's nice that you've kept a consistent Yosh all this time.

Ah nice, I know a random specialist in my local scene, sets are always fun with them.

I play a different character in every iteration of Smash. It's important for me to really enjoy how a character plays, so I usually put a few games into the entire cast before I decide on a main. It's interesting cause I feel that there's no real connection between who I play in each game other than they're generally high/top tier.

64: Fox
Melee: Peach
Brawl: MK/Falco
Smash4: Fox/Falcon
Ulti: Link

Ah interesting, funny how you stayed pretty close to the original 12 for most games. Even characters like Peach, Falco, and Meta Knight are much closer to that than like Bayo, Inkling, Steve etc.
