The shapeshifting and uncontainable implies that it would eventually break out. You could slow the snail down this way, but it would never be a permanent solution.

It's amazing how everyone on this site so far seems united by the fact that they would not want to deal with the stress of the snail.

Ok honestly I think I'd still be down for $1 billion. With that amount of money you have enough resources to constantly innovate new ways to slow the snail down + have it monitored. The Earth is massive (40,075.017 km circumference) and the whole idea is that it can only crawl slowly to get to you. I'm invested now so I actually looked it up and it seems that the most recent study suggests snails can move at 1 meter/hr = 8.766 km/year. So if I consistently go to random places across the world it most likely wouldn't be close enough to kill me before I go somewhere else. It would have to predict where I'm going to be and that's just up to RNG, and since it's RNG I feel like I wouldn't be that stressed about if the snail finds me since I can't control it.

Now, I also have to take into account that since it's intelligent it could easily get on a person/car/plane to travel, greatly increasing its annual mobility. However, with our current transportation systems across the world, I don't feel that it would be able to get close enough to me without having to make a large portion of the journey itself, and it can only move at 1 meter/hr.

The other thing I was thinking about is if it kills everything in its path, would it kill the people I care about in order to force me to give myself up? If it's intelligent it would certainly think of this. Then the whole scenario would depend on the snail's morals.

I feel like it would be a fairly easy way to adapt your lifestyle in order to adjust to this situation. You can make it a whole documented series and make a ton of profit which can then help you move places/buy new things/build new things in order to avoid the snail. If it were up to me, I would build tall buildings out in open fields so I would have a much better vantage point and be able to spot the snail with enough time and maybe even some ziplines for easier escapes. Since snails can only move so fast, you can have a series of places like this where you move in a constant pattern in order around the globe so the snail is always behind you. It would make my life a lot more exciting and would definitely shake things up lmao

You could definetly increase your odds, but it being an intelligent snail I'm sure it would start to catch on. I imagine it could trek underground until it was within the tall building so it would navigate your blindspots pretty well. It would def keep you thinking.

It being able to shape-shift literally defeats the point if it being a snail. It could turn into Usaine Bolt.

All the money in the world wouldn’t be worth the time and effort spent trying to evade it, and the paranoia that it could show up at any moment. You would never have sound sleep again because you wouldn’t want to leave yourself vulnerable to the snail, this snail is your life now. this is all you can worry about because you wont have stress from work because you have all the money and your social life would diminish because most of your time is dedicated to snail-stopping and you dont have a whole lot else to talk about, there is no escape and no petty material goods or whatever else will save you from your demise.
