Depends on the anime. I can't stand Goku's Japanese voice actor in Dragon Ball, and sometimes English dubs are really well done. In most cases, if I watch an anime (which I usually don't) I watch with subtitles. For me I can't stand playing Yakuza games with the English dubs. Sorry but seeing a bunch of Japanese people walking around Japan speaking English just feels too unnatural. Glad it's an option for people who want it though, I much prefer the fantastic Japanese voice acting cast for Yakuza games though. I like watching Pokemon Journeys with the English dub though. So yeah. Depends on what it is.
That's fair, funny enough from what I watched of Journeys/the Pokemon anime I much preferred the Japanese dub to the English one.
Depends. 99% of the time I go for the english dub but there can be exceptions. Dragon Maid's english dub was unavailable to me at the time so I had to watch subbed instead, so now I stick to subs on that series for consistency lol. If I ever watch One Piece I *might* go for subs purely because the english dub uses the EXACT SAME VOICES as Dragon Ball Z and it's really distracting. ...or maybe I'll just watch the 4Kids dub lol. less episodes! XP
I mean the 4KIDS Dub also has a pretty banger 4th of July song if I remember correctly.
I pretty much watch everything in sub, lol. The only animes I don't are shit that I watched weekly on Toonami - Samurai Champloo, Pokemon, Naruto (I can do either sub or dub), bleach (same deal here), prince of tennis (also same), Death note (also same), etc. Anything that I didn't grow up on watching in English I just don't bother listening to the dub. And yes, I do like to joke around with dub watchers as if watching dubbed is a sin. Anime overall is dope, though, so always nice to talk about it with anyone whether they watched sub or dub.
Honestly that pattern works for me, I watch most mainstream stuff in the English dub (not Pokemon though) but authentic non-mainstream anime I'll use the Japanese dub with English subs.
